Solar Solutions

Solar Simplified. From Design to Energization.

Transitioning to solar shouldn't be a headache. At Chris Cole Electric & Solar, I manage the entire lifecycle of your project so you don't have to.

  • Custom Design: We don't use "cookie-cutter" layouts. I analyze your roof’s orientation, shading, and your specific energy goals to design a system for maximum ROI.

  • Permits & Paperwork: I handle all City of Edmonton development and electrical permits, and coordinate with your utility provider for micro-generation agreements.

  • Procurement: I only source Tier 1, high-performance panels and inverters (like SolarEdge or Enphase) that are warrantied for 25+ years.

  • Master-Level Install: Your system is installed and commissioned by a Master Electrician, ensuring every connection meets the highest safety standards in Alberta.

2026 Solar Incentives & Financing

The Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP)

The best way to fund solar in Edmonton right now.

  • 0% to Low-Interest Financing: Borrow up to $50,000 for solar and energy upgrades.

  • Repay via Property Taxes: The loan is attached to the property, not you. If you sell the house, the remaining balance transfers to the new owner.

  • Cash-Flow Positive: In many cases, your monthly electricity savings are larger than your tax payment.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if it hails?

Our panels are Tier 1 and UL/IEC 61730 rated. They are engineered to withstand significant impact from hail and high prairie winds—often proving to be tougher than the shingles underneath them.

Do they need maintenance?

Solar panels have no moving parts and generally require zero maintenance. Edmonton’s rain and the angle of the panels usually keep them clean enough for peak production.

How does snow affect my solar panels?

Actually, solar panels love the cold! They are more efficient in lower temperatures. While a heavy dump of snow will temporarily pause production, Edmonton’s wind and the tilt of the panels usually clear them quickly.

Will I still get a power bill?

Yes, you will remain connected to the grid. However, your goal is to have your "Solar Credits" (the energy you sold in the summer) be larger than your "Usage Charges" in the winter, effectively bringing your annual energy cost toward zero.

How much do solar panels weigh?

Most residential panels weigh approximately 42 lbs. During our site assessment, I verify that your roof’s structure is fully capable of supporting the dead load of the racking and panels.
