Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Solutions

Most "charger installers" are general laborers. At Chris Cole Electric & Solar, every install is handled by a Master Electrician. This matters because an EV charger is one of the highest-draw appliances in your home.

  • Property Assessment: I calculate your home’s current electrical capacity to ensure your panel can handle a Level 2 charger without overloading.

  • Zero-Subcontractor Policy: I personally manage and execute your installation. No mystery crews, just professional results.

  • Future-Proofing: I don't just install for today. I can integrate your charger with Solar PV or Smart Home Automation to maximize your energy savings.

2026 EV Incentives & Rebates

Federal EV Affordability Program (EVAP):
Federal Purchase Rebates:
As of February 2026, the federal government has launched the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP). If you are buying or leasing a new ZEV, you can receive significant point-of-sale incentives that lower your upfront costs:

Up to $5,000 for Battery-Electric (BEV) and Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles.

Up to $2,500 for Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV).

Pro-Tip: These rebates are applied directly at the dealership, meaning you can put those savings toward your Home Charging Station and professional installation.

City of Edmonton: Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP):
Edmonton’s permanent CEIP program is active in 2026. This is a unique financing tool that allows residential and commercial property owners to:

Finance 100% of the costs for energy efficiency upgrades, including EV chargers, solar panels, and panel upgrades.

Repay the cost conveniently through your property tax bill over a long term (up to 20 years).

The Best Part: The financing is attached to the property, not the person. If you move, the next owner takes over the payments while enjoying the upgraded garage.

For Residential Homeowners:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need a Level 2 charger?

Yes. A standard 120V wall outlet (Level 1) only adds about 5–8 km of range per hour. A professional Level 2 install is 5x to 7x faster, allowing you to fully charge overnight even in the dead of an Edmonton winter.

How does your product/service work?

Absolutely. If you have a solar array, I can install "Smart" chargers that prioritize your solar production. This allows you to "fuel" your car for free using the energy generated on your own roof, rather than pulling from the grid.

What is the average lifespan of a charger?

Most high-quality units are rated for 10 years.

Will I need a panel upgrade?

Not always. If your home has a 100A service and you also have an AC and hot tub, we may need to discuss a Service Upgrade or an EV Load Manager. I’ll provide a full load calculation during our consultation so you know exactly what your home can handle.
